Trader Supplies Online Store Downtime

During September our Trader Supplies online store encountered a short period of downtime which resulted in the loss of a small number of customer records.
If you're having problems logging into your account, in particular if your email address is not recognised, we would advise that you re-register as a new customer.
We've since introduced new measures to prevent this from happening again and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Heavy snow may cause slight delays to delivery schedule

Customers are advised that some orders MAY be delayed from leaving our Derbyshire warehouse on Thursday February 5th. Due to heavy snowfall in the midlands overnight and this morning our courier services have been unable to gain access to our industrial estate. All customers expecting deliveries on Friday February 6th will be contacted if the situation does not improve throughout the day.
These are exceptional circumstances which are unfortunately beyond our control, however we will endeavor to process orders as normal.
Christmas Dispatch Dates & Opening Hours plus Online Store News

Please note, our last dispatch date before the Christmas break is Friday December 19th for delivery on Monday December 22nd. After this date we cannot guarantee delivery before the Christmas break.
We are closed from 2pm on Wednesday December 24th
We will reopen at 9am on Monday January 5th, 2009.
During this extended down time we will be carrying out significant restructuring of our dispatch and order system in preparation for the opening of our online store in January, 2009.

Darlington Market goes Green

Friends of the Earth and Darlington market traders have been meeting to exchange ideas and future initiatives in an effort to make their market greener.
A spokesperson for Friends of the Earth Darlington group said “Our markets are often the centre of our communities and have the potential to influence attitudes in a locality. We would encourage other Friends of the Earth groups to make contact with their own market people and get the ball rolling in their town.”

Please note that, as of today, 16th October 2008, we have revised the pricing of some of our Market Stall Covers. The updated prices can be found on our Market Stall Covers page and also in our PDF pricelist which can be downloaded from our website and printed out.

It's been 10 and a half months since our new look website went live and in that time we've had nothing but positive feedback and rave reviews for our efforts. But it doesn't end there. Back in January we said we'd be introducing our very own online store and we're delighted to announce that in the coming weeks this store will be going live to the public.

Our online store will stock a comprehensive range of Market Trader Supplies including market stall covers, clips, point of sale items, display equipment and money bags. Our famous market stall designs will unfortunately not be stocked online as we are currently experiencing extremely high demand which means we are unable to guarantee delivery dates. We are, however, hoping to resolve this situation and plan to offer a selection of our most popular market stall designs for sale via our online store by early 2009.

Sheffield finally gets a new market!

After 22 years of negotiations with various potential developers, the deal which finally gives Sheffield a new home for its market has been signed.
The new market development is to be built on The Moor, on the far side of the city centre from the current building, and will be ready for traders to move into from Autumn 2010.
In the interim, the council has agreed to a 40 percent rent reduction which takes into account the neglected state of the current market building.
Graham Longden, President of NMTF Sheffield Castle Market branch said, “It was the traders who voted for the new market, which will be more environmentally friendly and bring us right up to date ... The city centre is changing and we have to look to the future”

Market Stall prices to increase from April 1st 2008

Due to the global rise in the cost of steel it's with great regret that we must announce a planned 15% price increase which will affect our standard range of Market Stalls and other steel fabrications as well as the cost of bespoke designs. This price increase will be introduced from April 1st, 2008. We would advise that if you are considering purchasing a Market Stall or other steel fabrication from us in the near future you do so before April 1st to take advantage of our current prices.
Please note, these price increases will not affect the rest of our Market Stall range which includes market stall covers, clips and counter boards.
UPDATE 01/04/08: Our website has been updated to reflect the new prices which are now in effect.
Darlington wins Best Market Attraction

The National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) has awarded Darlington market the Best Market Attraction award closely followed by Doncaster which was highly commended. The award was presented by celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson, himself an advocate of British Markets. In an interview with the National Market Traders' Federation he said “Markets are brilliant at bringing communities together ... I visit them whenever possible, wherever I am.”

Barrow-In-Furness Market transforms its fortunes

At this year's National Market Traders' Federation Conference, Ann Taylforth, Barrow Town Centre manager spoke about how the council has rejuvenated Barrow's market since retaking control from a private landlord in 1999 at which time the dilapidated market was three quarters empty.
Since then the council has invested £2.25 million in the 6,000 square metre indoor market at the heart of Barrow’s busy pedestrian shopping centre...

Grant available for University Students with parents in the Market Industry.

For the last 10 years the National Market Traders' Federation (NMTF) has been offering a grant to university students whose parents work in the British Market Industry in order to ease their budgeted lifestyle.
The NMTF Harry Cross student grant was originally set up by the NMTF Benevolent Fund, Harry Cross' son and daughter and the Federations Fairs and Stockport branches. Each year it awards one lucky applicant with a sizeable sum of money to aid them during their university studies. Whilst the sum varies from year to year, 2007's winner Harriet Bowyer was presented with a £400 cheque by Past NMTF President Dennis Williams, now chairman of the NMTF Benevolent Fund Committee.
An application form containing further details can be downloaded from the NMTF website here. Students must fill out the form in full and provide an accompanying letter from one of their university tutors.
The only condition is that the applicant must have completed one term or semester at a UK university by March 31 2008.

New Website Finally Goes Live!

It's been a long, long, long time in development but it's with great pleasure that we announce that the new look Gavin Kenning Engineering web site has finally gone live as of January 1st, 2008.
This marks the end of the first phase of an ambitious new project embarked upon some months previously to breathe new life into our company's online presence and it no doubt comes as a great relief to everyone involved that, at long last, we can finally see the fruits of their many hours labour.
In the coming months we'll continue to develop our new online presence with the introduction of our own online store as well as the regular addition of new content to our fresh look website. All this whilst continuing to provide the same top level of service to the many customers with whom we deal on a daily basis.
