Sheffield finally gets a new market! http://www.market-stalls.co.uk/news.php After 22 years of negotiations with various potential developers, the deal which finally gives Sheffield a new home for its market has been signed. The new market development is to be built on The Moor, on the far side of the city centre from the current building, and will be ready for traders to move into from Autumn 2010.In the interim, the council has agreed to a 40 percent rent reduction which takes into account the neglected state of the current market building.Graham Longden, President of NMTF Sheffield Castle Market branch said, “It was the traders who voted for the new market, which will be more environmentally friendly and bring us right up to date ... The city centre is changing and we have to look to the future”The full story can be found on the National Market Traders' Federation website.
